IN AUGUST JOHN TOOK PART IN THE ALS ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE TO RAISE MONEY AND AWARENESS OF MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE
John said: " My auntie and my grandfather both died as a result of Motor Neurone disease and it makes me very happy that at the time of writing, this challenge has raised awareness of MND (ALS in the rest of the world) and raised nearly £5million in the UK and $100 million in the US. It's a horrendous disease as it debilitates healthy active people like my grandpa and auntie slowly, painfully and relentlessly. There is no cure but with heightened awareness and donations surely we can fight MND until it's eradicated. I've donated. If you can then you should too. I nominate Earl Carpenter and the cast of Les Miz Broadway, Norm Lewisand the cast of Phantom Broadway, ALL members of Llanelli Youth Theatre past and present, and ALL members of S94 (my year at Central drama school)"

IN JULY, JOHN TOOK TAKE PART IN "CERDDWN YMLAEN - WALK ON FOR AIR AMBULANCE WALES" CHARITY WALK ON JULY 10th/11th AND PERFORMED IN THE OPENING CONCERT ON JULY 4TH. HE RAISED OVER £1000 FOR THE CHARITY AFTER WALKING NEARLY 70 MILES IN THREE DAYS!
Since 2011, Rhys Meirion (pictured below), international Opera star and member of iconic welsh trio, The Three Welsh Tenors, has been an Ambassador for the Wales Air Ambulance.
As part of his support for the Air Ambulance, Rhys organises an annual walk that spans the entire length of Wales to raise funds for the vital service provided by Wales Air Ambulance. The service costs around £6million annually to operate, receives no public funding or National Lottery support and relies entirely on charitable donations to survive.
Rhys has raised close to £250,000 over the past two years from the highly successful walks, in which celebrities walk 200 miles across Wales’ most picturesque countryside. Amongst those walking the whole distance are TV naturalist Iolo Williams, rugby legend Robin McBryde, X-Factor star Lucie Jones, Welsh comedian Tudur Owen and singer Sioned Terry. The walkers averaged about 26 miles per day, and the walk will take eight days to complete. John joined the walk for the last 70 or so miles between Brecon and Cardiff. A special Just Giving page has been set up for each walker and it is incredibly easy to donate an amount, however small or large, to this valuable charity. Help John help Wales Air Ambulance!
To launch "Cerddwn Ymlaen", John appeared at Venue Cymru, Llandudno North Wales in the "Walk On" Opening Concert on Friday 4th July.
Appearing alongside John at the concert was Rhys Meirion, Lucie Jones, Sioned Terry, Tudur Owen, Elin Fflur and others.
